ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Cecil Johnson and his wife, Ervina, founded the Cambridge Spice Company, LLC in 2013 and started selling Cecil's Rubba Ya' Original Seasoning Blend.  One of Cecil's passions is barbecuing for family, friends and the community.

Cecil, known around Cambridge for his barbecued ribs, pulled pork and pit beef, also smokes whole pigs.  In 2017, he entered the local Summer Send-Off and BBQ Competition where he used his spice blend.  Assisted by his wife, his daughter and a friend, he was the only non-restaurateur who entered the contest.  Cecil was surprised to learn that he won, which led to interviews on a former MTS Broadcasting Company radio program with Troy Hill and a WINX FM radio program with Mark Potter.

 

Besides running Cambridge Spice Company, Cecil is a teacher with the Dorchester County Public School system, a member of Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church, a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and a cancer survivor.
